Abstract
Objective To investigate the effect of infrared ray radiation on reproduction functions of rat testis by studying its role in lipid peroxidation. Methods Rat testis was irradiated with infrared rays at different waves.Activities of superoxide dismutase(SOD),glutathione peroxide(GSH-Px),glutathione-S-transferase(GST),and levels of molondialdehyde(MDA) and GSH in rat testis tissue were measured. Results Compared with control group, the level of MDA was significantly higher and the level of GSH was significantly lower(P<0.05,P<0.01),while the activity of SOD,GSH-Px and GST was significantly lower in rat testis tissue(P <0.05,P<0.01) after infrared ray irradiation. Conclusion Declined antioxidant enzymes and increased lipid peroxidation are the reason why infrared ray radiation has effects on rat testiss.
