Abstract
Between 1978—1986 fifty elder children of average of 10.5 ages (sixty-four hips) with CDHtreated with steel shelf acefabuloplasty. The time of follow-up is 1-8 years (average 4.5 years),the results were satisfactory in 80 per cent. The overall femoral head necrosis rate was 20 percent The steel shelf acetabuloplasty may be indicated in CDH cases:the patient is 8 years old, acetabula dysplasia with index over 38 degrees, the height of the dislocated head over 4 cm.Thisprocedure has some adventages such as: 1.protecting and promoting the development of theacerabular cartilage; 2.strengthening stability of the femoral head in the acetabulum;3.aidingin early commencement of functional activity of the hipjointand decreasing necrosis of the femoralhead.
