Abstract
Objective To investigate the serum levels of creatintine, urea nitrogen, uric acid and cystatin-C(Cys-C) in 147 adult males. Methods A total of 147 adult males(mean age=35.7 years, range 18.6-48.3 years) were recruited as stress group and 92 age-matched adult males as control group. Serum levels of creatinine, urea nitrogen, uric acid and Cys-C were measured with Hitachi 7600 biochemical analyzer. Results The median value of uric acid for the stress group was 381.51μmol/L,which was significantly higher than that for the control group(P<0.05), no statistical difference was found in levels of creatinine, urea nitrogen and Cys-C between the two groups. Furthermore, stress group was subdivided into sub-groups A(<25y), B(26-35y) and C(>36y). Statistic results showed that the uric acid level in sub-group A was significantly higher than that in sub-groups B and C(P<0.05). Conclusion High serum levels of uric acid may be positively related with the strength of stress.
