Serum levels of creatinine,urea nitrogen,uric acid and cystatin-C in 147 adult males after stress

Objective To investigate the serum levels of creatintine,urea nitrogen,uric acid and cystatin-C（Cys-C） in 147 adult males. Methods A total of 147 adult males（mean age=35.7 years,range 18.6-48.3 years） were recruited as stress group and 92 age-matched adult males as control group. Serum levels of creatinine,urea nitrogen,uric acid and Cys-C were measured with Hitachi 7600 biochemical analyzer. Results The median value of uric acid for the stress group was 381.51μmol/L,which was significantly higher than that for the control group（P＜0.05）, no statistical difference was found in levels of creatinine,urea nitrogen and Cys-C between the two groups. Furthermore,stress group was subdivided into sub-groups A（＜25y）, B（26-35y） and C（＞36y）. Statistic results showed that the uric acid level in sub-group A was significantly higher than that in sub-groups B and C（P＜0.05）. Conclusion High serum levels of uric acid may be positively related with the strength of stress.
