Significant prognostic factors by multivariate analysis in elder patients with gastric cancer

  • Objective: The aim of this study was to indentify and measure the prognostic factors in elder patients with gastric cancer. Methods: Univariate and multivariate analyses of the prognostic value of Various pathological and treatment variables in 92gastric cancer. Survival was compared by using the log-rank test on the kaplan-meier life table. Results: On univariate analysis, significant prognostic factors were plt,Weight, size of tumour, depth of invasion, lymph node metastasis, histologic differentiation and TNM stage(P<0.05),On multivariate analysis, independent prognostic factors were TNM stage, lymph node metastasis and thrombocytosis(P<0.01),The radical gastrectomies is recommended to lengthen survival in elder patients with gastric cancer. Conclusion: TNM stage, lymph node metastasis and thrombocytosis are independent prognostic indicator of survival in elder patients with gastric cancer.
