Pre-and post-operative observations on the quality and quantity of serum copper-and zinc-containing superoside dismutase in patients with lung cancer

This paper presents changes of quality and quantity of serum copper-and zinc-containing Superoside dismutase（CuZn-SOD）in 16 patients with lung cancer,and 10 with non-cancerous thoracic lesions.The results showed that immunologically changed CuZn-SOD（CuZn-SOD-I）from cancer patients was much higher in concentration than that from non-cancerous patients（P＜0.01）.Comarisons were made between Pre-and post-operations in 11 case of lung cancer.It was indicated that post operative CuZn-SOD-I declinied significantly（P＜0.01）,while CuZn-SOD content（CuZn-SODC）and SOD activity（SOD-A）increased.We thus consider that lung cancer can cause the changes in CuZn-SOD not only in quantity,but also in quality.
