A bibliometric analysis of papers published in Journal of Chinese PLA Postgraduate Medical School from 2005 to 2009

Objective To analyze the information indexes of papers published in Journal of Chinese PLA Postgraduate Medical School from 2005 to 2009 in order to provide the evidence for the development of the journal. Methods Following data of the journal were counted by bibliometry,including its information index,citation index including the number of citations and the frequency of citation,papers published per year in each column,and foundation-supported papers. Results The average information index of the journal was 0.56,and the total citation ratio increased from 1.84 and 4.96 in 2005 to 2.05 and 8.19 in 2009,respectively.The published papers and foundation-supported papers of the journal increased from 270 and 62 in 2005 to 456 and 156,respectively,with a growth rate of 69% and 152%,respectively. Conclusion The academic level of the journal can be improved with its sustainable development maintained by strengthening solicit and invited contributions from authors and by increasing the coverage of papers supported by national,military and provincial foundations.
