Anti-inflammatory effect of compound huangbei paste:An experimental study

Objective To study the anti-inflammatory effect of compound huangbei paste. Methods A mouse model of ear swelling was induced by dimethylbenzene and a rat model of toe swelling was induced by carrageenin to observe the anti-inflammatory effect of compound huangbei paste. Results Compound huangbei paste could significantly inhibit the dimethylbenzene-induced ear swelling of mice and toe swelling of rats.The ear swelling of mice was（6.348±1.1639）mg and the toe swelling of rats was（0.423±0.166）ml 3h after inflammation in control group.The ear swelling of mice was（2.276±0.766）mg and the toe swelling of rats was（0.148±0.078）ml 3h after inflammation in compound huangbei paste treatment group（P＜0.01）. Conclusion Compound huangbei paste shows strong anti-inflammatory effects in animal models.
