Use of hematoporphyrin-derivative (HPD) for detection of tumours in nose and throat

Recently,a new agent HPD,was used for detecting malignant tumours in our country and other countries. Fifteen ENT patients included in this study was tested by injecting HPD intravenously 48 to 72 hours before the examination.Histologically,the tissues taken from fluorescent-light region were to be in accordance with pathological diagnosis.This tehnique has been used for determination the tumours size during operation.And it has been demonstrated that technique is more accurate than nakedeyes.The side-effect of HPD can be prevented by sheltering from the light strictly.
