Results A total of 735 patients in 25 nursing units were investigated. The intravenous fluid infusion rate was 88.9%(653/735).No significant difference was found in intravenous fluid infusion between age of patients and treatment modality. The utilization rate of trocars and PICC was 37.4% and 37.0%,respectively.PICC was mainly used in tumor patients receiving chemotherapy. The incidence of complications in intravenous fluid infusion was 4.9%. Conclusion Intravenous fluid infusion is widely applied in clinical practice due to its advantages of multiple approaches and long-term dwelling.Training of nurses taking the charge of intravenous fluid infusion should be strengthened in rational use of intravenous infusion catheter in order to reduce its complications.
