Typing of gluteal muscle contracture and its arthroscopy minimum invasion treatment

  • Objective To study the clinical typing of gluteal muscle contracture and the therapeutic effect of arthroscopy minimum invasion treatment on it. Methods A total of 358 snapping hip patients (175 males and 183 females) at the age of 14-41 years (19.7±6.8 years) were enrolled in this study. All patients had a muscle injection history of penicillin and benzyl alcohol. Gluteal muscle contracture was divided into type I (cordal contracture, n=98), type II (fan-shaped contracture, n=127), and type III (complex contracture, n=133). Contracture cords limiting hip joint motion were cut off to recover its flexion, adduction, internal rotation and extension. Results Of the 358 patients, 321 were followed up after operation. According to the evaluation criteria for hip function, excellent, rather good and good outcome was achieved in 303, 13 and 5 patients, respectively. Conclusion Typing of gluteal muscle contracture helps to implement its arthroscopy treatment.
