Tumors in the cranio-orbital junction and their surgical management

  • Fourteen cases of tumors in the cranio-orbital junction (COJ) were reported. The primary manifestations were exophthalmos, visual failure and limitation of extraocular movement. Thirteen patients were operated on without mortality. Nine tumors were removed totally. Eleven patients were followed-up. All of the wight who were followed-up for 4.6 years could take care themselves. Most of them were able to take part in normal works. The classification, clinical manifestations, prinicples of therapy and surgical approach of the tumors in the COJ were discussed. In the paper the writers emphasized particularly the the importance of familiarity with the anatomy of COJ and microsurgical techniques during operation in these tumors.
