Abstract
Objective To investigate and evaluate the causes of perinatal death in the past 10 years in order to improve the quality of perinatal health care and reduce the perinatal mortality rate. Methods One hundred and twenty cases of perinatal death during January 1998 to December 2007 were retrospectively analyzed. Results A total of 10 861 babies were delivered in our hospital during the past 10 years, including 120 perinatal deaths. The perinatal mortality rate was 11.05‰. The ratio of intrauterine death, stillbirth and neonatal death was 48.3%,13.3% and 38.3%,respectively. Prematurity was the leading cause of perinatal death(76.7%) and 24.2% of the perinatal deaths were attributed to congenital anomalies. There were 22 cases of neonatal death with a birth weight of over 1 500g. Conclusion More attention should be paid to perinatal care of pregnant women, fetal heart monitoring and prenatal diagnosis. Treatment of preterm infants should be improved.
