The analysis of cell apoptosis in early stage by flow cytometry

Objective:To discuss the analysis of cell apoptosis in early stage by multi-parameter flow cytometry. Methods:The apoptosis and the change in mitochondrial membrane potential of esophagus carcinoma cell line EC6, which was treated with X radiation or cisplatin and labeled with Annexin V FITC/PI or JC-1, were analyzed by flow cytometry.Results: The percentage of apoptosis cell and depolarized cell increases with the dose. The mitochondrial membrane potential decreases with the dose. Conclusions: Flow cytometry is a powerful technique in terms of the numbers of cells that can be analyzed and the volume of data generated. It may always be necessary to demonstrate apoptosis and offer potential new targets for therapeutic treatment of diseases.
