Soldiers’ cognition of circumcision and influential factors of operation will

Objective: To explore the influential factors by comparing the circumcised and uncircumcised soldiers’ cognition of and attitudes towards circumcision. Methods: We devised a questionnaire to study 100 circumcised soldiers and 100 uncircumcised soldiers in our research. Results: The principal reasons given by circumcised men were to improve penile hygiene（77%）,to help improve sexual function（35%）and to follow the doctor’s advice（24%）.For uncircumcised men,the main reasons lay in not knowing the exact medical benefits（33%）and being anxious about postoperative complications（20%）.Besides,more than half of the soldiers had no idea of the best time for circumcision. Conclusion: The research indicates that the main reasons given by circumcised soldiers are to improve penile hygiene and to help improve sexual function.For uncircumcised soldiers,the main reasons lie in not knowing the exact medical benefits and being anxious about postoperative complications.So,knowledge of circumcision should be made available to soldiers.
