Correlation between saliva and serum biochemical markers

Objective To investigate the correlation between saliva and serum biochemical markers in rescue medical workers after earthquake. Methods The rescue medical workers were divided into group A（Chengdu）, group B（Dujiangyan）, and group C（Shuimo） according to the distance to seimic origin. The correlation between their saliva and serum biochemical markers was analyzed. Results Saliva and serum UA,UN,CK-MB（activities） were positively correlated（P＜0.05）, serum CK-MB activities were positively correlated with body mass（r=0.379 2,P＜0.01）. UN and UA were higher in groups C and B than in group A（A＜B＜C）（P＜0.05）. Cr tended to increase but had no statistical difference（P＞0.05）. Conclusion There is a significant correlation between certain saliva and serum biochemical markers（UN,UA） in rescue medical workers,thus making real-time observation of saliva samples possible.
