Epidemiological investigation of patients in fever clinic

Objective To study the epidemiologic characteristics of patients in fever clinic of general hospitals during the epidemics of type A H1N1 flu. Methods Data about 2009 patients who visited the fever clinic of our hospital in June and July of 2009 were collected with prospective methods,including their gender,age,time from onset of fever to visiting a doctor and diagnosis established. Results The 3 top diseases resulting in fever were common cold,pharyngolaryngitis,and acute tonsi1litis among the 2009 fever patients who visited the fever clinic of our hospital in June and July of 2009.The male:female ratio was 1.14:1.The average age of the patients was 30.86±21.38 years.The patients at the age of 20-29 years were most vulnerable to fever. Conclusion The number of patients who visit a doctor for fever increases during the epidemics of type A H1N1 flu and most of them suffer from common and frequently encountered diseases.
