Pilots of modified high performance fighters who are unqualified for temporal flying after physical examination:An analysis of their reasons

  • Objective To summarize the experiences in physical examination of pilots of modified high performance fighters and in their aeromedical support. Methods Data about 75 pilots of modified high performance fighters who were unqualified for temporal flying after physical examination were analyzed. Results Of the 75 pilots of modified high performance fighters who were unqualified for temporal flying after physical examination,14(18.7%)were due to surgical diseases,4(5.3%)due to nervous system diseases,13(17.3%)due to medical diseases,3(4.0%)due to ophthalmologic diseases,4(5.3%)due to otolaryngologic(ENT) diseases,and 38(50.7%)due to their special functions below proof. Conclusion The diseases of pilots of modified high performance fighters detected in physical examination are the potential dangers in flying safety of the second generation fighters,to which great importance must be attached.
