Investigation on bacterial contamination of air and material surfaces in hospital

The status of air and surface contamination in OPD,wards and operating theatres were inv-estigated with air-surface sampler.The results showed that the bacterial counts in the air werehigher in crowded,busy and poorly ventilated places and hot season.The mean of the total num-ber of bacteria in the air exceeded 3000 CFU/M~3 during July,August and September inayear.The number of bacteria on the surfaces of the medical products averaged over 110 CFU/CM~2.Thebacteria isolated from the samples included some pathogenetic organisms such as pseudomonasaeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureus.Some measures for reducing bacterial contamination in the hospital are recommended on thebasis of this investigation.
