Creation of ischemia and reperfusion model of femoral head

Objective: To develop the model of ischemia and reperfusion injury on the epiphyses necrosis of femoral head of juvenile rabbit. Methods: There are 12 juvenile rabbit with average of 1kg in weight and 1 month in age.The compression of femoral head by rubber band was performed to cut out the blood supply of femoral neck for 6 to 24 hours, then the compression was released.Pathology observation of femoral head was performed 6hrs, 24hrs, 168hrs after the initial operation. Results: Bone scan and abdominal aortography showed ischemia and reperfusion of femoral head was obvious.Pathology study showed there was almost no change of epiphyses bone defect in 6hr group, necrosis of epiphyses could be observed in group of ischemia and reperfusion of 24hrs, and much more obviously in the group of 168hrs. Conclusion: Damage of epiphysis could be aggravated after ischemia and reperfusion injury.
