Abstract:
Objective To study the clinical outcomes of valgus impacted proximal humeral fracture in the elderly after locking proximal humeral plate (LPHP).
Methods Thirteen over 60 years old patients with fresh valgus impacted proximal humeral fracture admitted to our hospital from January 2009 to January 2011 were treated with LPHP.The function of their should joints was assessed after operation according to the American shoulder and elbow surgeon (ASES) scale.
Results The patients were followed up for 12-15 months (mean 12.5 months).Their forward flexion, external rotation, and average internal rotation were (124.6±14.5)°, (40.8±7.6)°, and T
11 (T
9-L
2), respectively.Their average score on the ASES scale was 78.6±8.2.
Conclusion LPHP can achieve good clinical outcomes in over 60 years old patients with valgus impacted proximal humeral fracture
