Abstract:
Objective To provide the evidence for prevention and treatment of diseases by studying the features of died patients.
Methods A total of 5 921 patients who died in our hospital from 2003 to 2012 were included in this study. Their gender, age, causes and time of death were statistically analyzed.
Results The total death rate of the patients was 0.8%. The death rate was significantly higher for males patients than for female patients, especially for those aged over 60 years. Tumour, diseases of the circulatory, respiratory and digestive systems, injury and intoxication were the main causes of death in our hospital with a higher death rate in winter. The time of death was concentrated in morning and early afternoon followed by evening and late night on Monday to Friday.
Conclusion Close attention should be paid to the cuases of dseases, higher death occurring seasons and time. Prevention and treatment of diseases should be strengthened. It is the key to reducing the death rate in our hospital.
