Abstract:
Objective To study the effect of maternal serum levels of TG, TC, LDL-C, HDL-C, ALB and FBG on newborn weight.
Methods Two hundred pregnant women (without associated diseases and complications) admitted our hospital from January 2012 to April 2012 for routine prenatal examination were included in this study. Their serum levels of TG, TC, LDL-C, HDL-C, ALB and FBG were measured in the first trimester (10-12 weeks) and the third trimester (36-37 weeks), respectively. Correlation between newborn weight and maternal serum levels was analyzed.
Results The maternal serum levels of TG, TC, LDL-C, HDL-C, ALB and FBG were significantly higher in the third trimester than in the first trimester (
P< 0.001) and positively related with the newborn weight (
P< 0.05,
P< 0.01,
P< 0.01,
P< 0.05).
Conclusion The maternal serum lipid levels in pregnant stage increase gradually. The serum levels of TG, TC and LDL-C in the first trimester and FBG in the third trimester are positively related with the newborn weight.
