Abstract:
Objective To study the reference value of positive orthostatic tolerance test (OTT) for Chinese female pilots.
Methods Thirtythree Chinese female pilots in active service who underwent OTT were included in this study. Their maximal heart rate and minimal blood pressure were analyzed.
Results The heart rate of the pilots was significantly faster and the blood pressure of the pilots was significantly higher when they changed their supine position to erecting position. The mean maximal heart rate was (105±11) beats /min, the mean minimal SBP and DBP of each pilot were (100±8) mmHg and (69±6) mmHg, respectively. The reference value of positive orthostatic tolerance test was 122 beats /min for the Chinese female pilots according to the 95% CI. The 122 beats /min could be considered as their upper limit of heart rate and the 86 mmHg and 59 mmHg could be considered as their lower limit of SBP and DBP at erecting position.
Conclusion The results of this study can provide the reference value of positive orthostatic tolerance test for the Chinese female pilots.
