Abstract:
Objective To study the novel teaching model of laparoscopy urinary surgical skills according to the specific conditions of urologists for advanced studies.
Methods One hundred and seventeen urologists for advanced studies in our hospital from 2010 to 2012 were included in this study. Their master of laparoscopic techniques was assessed after they completed the stepped training course by teaching with different multimedia, training with simulators, simulating surgery for live animals, watching surgery videos and completing operations as an assistant.
Results All the urologists for advanced studies could master the laparoscopy urinary surgical skills, the structure and performance of laparoscope and its ancillary equipments, the laparoscopy anatomic landmarks, the application of laparoscopy in clinical practice, and could thus perform the common operations such as laparoscopic nephrectomy and adrenal adenoma resection under the guidance of senior surgeons.
Conclusion Stepped teaching of laparoscopic techniques according to the specific conditions of urologists for advanced studies can significantly improve their laparoscopy urinary surgical skills.
