Abstract:
Objective To study the correlation between Gardnerella vaginalis(GV) and bacterial vaginitis(BV).
Methods Two hundred and twelve vaginitis patients admitted to our outpatient department from January 2012 to June 2013 served as a study group and 200 females undergoing gynecological examination served as a control group in this study.GV was identified by analyzing their vagina secretions and its drug sensitivity was tested.High risk factors for GV infection were analyzed.
Results The positive rates of GV culture, clue cell detection and BV test were higher in study group than in control group(
P<0.05).Drug sensitivity test showed that GV was sensitive to vancomycin, furazolidone, and ceftriaxone(
P<0.05).Multivariate logistic analysis displayed that young age at the first intercourse, history of abortion, contraceptive device, age ≥30 years were the independent risk factors for GV infection.
Conclusion GV infection is closely related with bacterial vaginitis,GV infection should thus be prevented and controlled in its high risk populations.
