Abstract:
Objective To provide the reference for aeromedical support by studying the diseases in hospitalized young military pilots.
Methods Diseases in military pilots with their age ≤28 years adm itted to our hospital from November 2006 to November 2012 were classifed. The distribution and fying conclusion of these pilots in different departments were analyzed.
Results The top 10 diseases in the pilots were lumbar disc herniation, followed by arrhythmia, pars interarticularis defect, aero-sinusitis, headache, acceleration intolerance, meniscus injury, renal calculus, anxiety-depression and ground syncope. The frst 5 involved departments were department of orthopedics, followed by department of otorhinolaryngology, department of neurology, department of cardiology and department of gastroenterology. The temporary and permanent grounding accounted for 53.4%.
Conclusion Spinal and joint diseases, otorhinolaryngological diseases, functional diseases of the nervous system and cardiovascular diseases are common in young military pilots and measures should thus be taken in pilot recruitment.
