Abstract:
Phospholipase C is an effector molecule in the PI signaling pathway, which have been identified into 15 subtypes and classified in six groups depending on the structural characteristics and activation mechanisms. The PLCs are widely distributed in the body, including the organization of the heart, brain, skeletal muscle, etc. PLC plays different functional roles in different tissues and cells, and some studies have shown that the distribution of different kinds of PLC isozymes on the islet is related to the secretion of insulin. This article reviews the physiological characteristics of PLC and its role in islet.
