Abstract:
Objective To explore the changes over time of orexin receptor 1 (OX1R) in hippocampus of status epilepticus (SE) rats.
Methods One hundred male Wistar rats were divided into model group (KA group) and control group (NS group). Models of SE rats were induced by intraperitoneal injection of kainic acid (KA), SE was terminated 30 minutes later. The rats in control group were injected with 0.9% sodium chloride injection intraperitoneally. Then the changes of OX1R were detected by immunohistochemistry and Western-blot at 4 h, 1 d, 1 week, 1 month, 2 months after the termination of SE in KA group and NS group.
Results OX1R in hippocampus of SE rats increased gradually with age in model (KA) and control (NS) group, the IOD of OX1R in KA group was higher than that of NS group, but no significant difference was found between the two groups.
Conclusion In the KA and NS group, the changes of OX1R in CA1, CA3 and dentate gyrus (DG) of hippocampus in SE rats or controls are not associated with SE, but the expression of OX1R increases with time which suggests that OX1R increases with the age of rats.
