Abstract:
Objective To investigate the depression level of nurses in emergency department and its influence factors.
Methods Totally 91 nurses in emergency department were investigated with general information questionnaire and Self-rating Depression Scale (SDS) in two comprehensive hospitals in Beijing.
Results The average depression index of nurses in emergency department was 0.568±0.124, and 65 nurses had depression, accounting for 71.43%. The effect of the number of night shift on depression index was statistically significant (
P< 0.05).
Conclusion The majority of nurses in emergency department have depression. Night shift is an important factor influencing depression in nurses in emergency department. Increasing the number of nurses and reducing the average number of night shift may help lower the level of depression in nurses in emergency department.
