Abstract:
Surgery is still consideredtobe the mainstay for the treatment of gastric cancer with negative margins and D2-lymphadenectomy. However, in our country, most cases with confirmedgastric cancer are already at advancedstage, which may leadtohigh recurrences after radical resection. In order toimprove prognosis after curative resection, neoadjuvant treatment is appliedin patients with locally advancedtumors and it has achievedsome positive results. In this article, we discuss the concept of neoadjuvant treatment approach and provide some treatment recommendations basedon current evidence.
