Abstract:
Objective To investigate the recurrence time of gastroesophageal varices after endoscopic treatment in patients with autoimmune cirrhosis or hepatitis B cirrhosis.
Methods Clinical features of 20 patients with gastroesophageal varices with autoimmune cirrhosis who were conducted with endoscopic treatment in our hospital from 2006 to 2013 were retrospectively analyzed, and their mean number for first endoscopic treatment and recurrence time after treatment were compared with 43 patients with hepatitis B cirrhosis in our hospital during the same period.
Results Compared with patients with hepatitis B cirrhosis, the mean number of first endoscopic treatment in patients with autoimmune cirrhosis was significantly less (2.93±1.20) vs (2.10±1.25),
P< 0.05, and the recurrence time of autoimmune cirrhosis was significantly earlier (0.70±0.44) vs (1.22±0.97),
P< 0.05.
Conclusion Compared with patients with hepatitis B cirrhosis, patients with autoimmune cirrhosis relapse earlier after endoscopic treatment.
