Abstract:
Objective To investigate the resting energy expenditure(REE)feature and its influence factors in patients with hypertension.
Methods A total of 2 007 adults(1 438 males and 569 females)with mean age of(49.7±8.2)years were enrolled in this study. They had health examination in health management institute of Chinese PLA General Hospital from January 2013 to January 2015.Their height, weight, waist circumference(WC), hip circumference(HC), fat mass(FM), fat ratio(FR), biochemical indications level were measured.Their resting energy expenditure(REE)was assayed by indirect calorimetry(MedGem).Distribution characteristics of REE between hypertension group and control group were analyzed.
Results There were 597 hypertension patients(485 males and 112 females)with mean age of(51.6±8.2)years, and 1 410 adults(953 males and 457 females)with mean age of(48.9 ± 8.1)years in control group.Patients with hypertension had higher level of REE compared with control group (1 613± 143.5 vs(1 518±138.0)kJ/d,
P<0.05).The older patients in hypertension group had lower level of REE.The male patients in hypertension group had higher level of REE compared with female(
P<0.001).Multivariate linear regression analysis showed that age, gender, FR, hip circumference, HbA1C were influence factors of REE of patients with hypertension.
Conclusion The level of REE is changed between different age group and gender group in patients with hypertension. The level of REE in patients with hypertension is subject to glucose tolerance status. It is necessary for hypertension patients to pay more attention to glucose care.
