Abstract:
Patients with Cushing's syndrome have significant psychiatric symptoms and cognitive disorders, such as depression, anxiety and impairment of memory.Patients with such symptoms even may try to commit suicide. This problem may be associated with functional and structural abnormality of brain, which is elicited by hypercortisolism. At present, structural magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and functional MRI are the most advanced radiological examination for evaluating structural and functional abnormality of brain.Cerebral atrophy and activity changes of different brain regions in MRI are the typical characteristics of Cushing's syndrome. After treatment, these alterations can be alleviated, but it will not be reversed completely.
