Abstract:
Since the application of vancomycin and avoparcin gradually increases, the interaction between enterococcus and vancomycin has been changed, which brings about vancomycin-resistant enterococcus (VRE). Since its first discovery in 1986, VRE has gradually become one of the major pathogens in hospitals-aquired infections in many countries. Bacterial susceptibility and molecular biology methods are the most widely used methods to detect VRE. In this paper, the origin of VRE, its resistance mechanism, epidemiological characteristics and detection methods will be discussed.
