Abstract:
Objective To estimate the prevalence of frailty in centenarians and identify the factors associated with frailty in Hainan province.
Methods From May to December in 2016, a cross-sectional survey was conducted in centenarians who had been living in 8 districts of Hainan province by doctors and nurses in Hainan Branch of Chinese PLA General Hospital using self-made questionnaire and Frail Scale.
Results The prevalence of frailty and prefrailty were 20.6%, 65.0%, respectively. Frailty were associated with nutrition status, activity of daily life, urinary incontinence, stool incontinence, pain, and sleeping problems.
Conclusion Since frailty in centenarians is a serious problem, a variety of measures should be taken to prevent adverse health outcomes, and better medical service should be provided to optimize their quality of life.
