Abstract:
Objective To investigate the allergenicities of Artemisia annual L, Artemisia sieversiana Willd and Aretemisia Argyi Levl.et Vant pollen in Xilin Gol district of Inner Mongolia and their clinical significances.
Methods A total of 282 suspected summer-autumnal pollinosis patients (150 males and 132 females with average age of 32.6±14.4 years, ranging from 6 to 60 years)admitted to Duolun People's Hospital from July to August in 2016 were enrolled in our study. All patients underwent skin prick test(SPT) using Artemisia annual L and Artemisia sieversiana Willd pollen extracts. Then Artemisia Argyi Levl.et Vant sIgE detection was performed in the patients with positive skin testing to former two Artemisia pollen allergens simultaneously. The allergenicities of these three Artemisia pollens were evaluated by analyzing the intensity of SPT or levels of sIgE.
Results Of the 282 patients who might be sensitive to Artemisia by inquiry, 259 patients (91.8%) were positive to Artemisia annual L and Artemisia sieversiana Willd. The cases with SPT intensity ≥ ++ accounted for 100% in Artemisia annual L, significantly higher than 96.9% in Artemisia sieversiana Willd (
P< 0.001). The percentage of sIgE levels ≥ Ⅱ in Aretemisia Argyi Levl.et Vant was 87.6%.
Conclusion In Xilin Gol district of Inner Mongolia, the allergenicities of these three Artemisia pollens are all strong. The allergenicity of Artemisia annual L is stronger than that of Artemisia sieversiana Willd. The intensity of SPT or levels of sIgE can be used alone in the diagnosis of Artemisia pollinosis.
