Abstract:
Objective To assess the effect of preformed orbital titanium mesh in the enbloc reconstruction for orbital medial and inferior walls blowout fractures.
Methods From May 2012 to January 2018, 41 cases diagnosed with serious defect of the orbital medial and floor walls admitted to our hospital were included in our study. Of the 41 cases, there were 31 males and 10 females with age ranging from 18 to 55 years. Orbital three-dimension CT scan was performed in all patients preoperatively and postoperatively. The fractures of orbital medial and inferior walls and herniation of orbital contents in all cases were observed, and preformed orbital titanium mesh was applied for enbloc reconstruction. The data of exophthalmos and diplopia were recorded.
Results All cases were followed up for 6-12 months without serious complications. The degree of enophthalmos was less than 2 mm in 31(75.61%) cases and diplopia was relieved in 29 cases after surgery.
Conclusion The application of preformed orbital titanium mesh can exactly and simply reconstruct the orbital wall fracture.
