Abstract:
With the development of medical science, the incidence of gastric cancer presents a downward trend, but it still ranks the fifth in incidence of cancer and the third in the mortality rate. Surgery is currently considered to be the main treatment to cure gastric cancer. Based on the combination of surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy, the 5-year survival rate of early gastric cancer can reach up to 95%. However, few gastric cancer patients could be diagnosed in early stage. About 80% patients have already developed advanced gastric cancer at the time of diagnosis, and missed the opportunity for surgery. Currently, chemotherapy is still the most common treatment for advanced gastric cancer, but there is no standard and uniform treatment plan. At the same time, with the continuous development of molecular biology research, molecular targeted therapy and immunotherapy have become the hotspots of comprehensive treatment for gastric cancer. This article will summarize the routine treatment of advanced gastric cancer and its related progress.
