Abstract:
Bone is a remarkably dynamic organ, and bone remodeling is based on the balance between bone resorption by osteoclasts and bone formation by osteoblasts. The balance is regulated by many mechanisms,in which epigenetic mechanisms play an important role.Epigenetics refers to the mechanism by which the DNA sequence does not change but the gene expression can be inherited. This review summarizes three levels of epigenetics, namely DNA methylation, histone modification and non-coding RNA regulation of bone cell function.
