Abstract:
Objective To investigate the effects of kinesio taping on delayed onset of muscle soreness after standing vertical jump.
Methods From September to November in 2017,14 healthy college students were selected from the nursing major of Soochow University to complete 8 groups of standing vertical jump,and the changes of heart rate,blood pressure and blood lactate levels were detected before and after exercise.At the end of the exercise,one side of the thigh patched with the kinesio taping (intervention side),the other side of the thigh did not patch with the kinesio taping (control side).The degree of muscle soreness was recorded at 24 h,48 h,72 h and 96 h after exercise.
Results The number of jumps performed in the 8 groups was 17-22 times per group.After completing the 8 groups of exercise,the ratings of perceived exertion (RPE) reached (17.64±1.22) points.Immediately after exercise,the heart rate increased by 78.35 beats/minute,and the blood lactate level increased by 14.39 mmol/L.The muscle soreness scores of the intervention side and the control side reached the highest at 48 h after the exercise,which were (6.00±2.11) and (6.21±2.33),respectively.There were significant differences in the muscle soreness scores between different time points.The muscle soreness scores in the intervention side were slightly higher than that in the control at four time points without significant difference (
P>0.05).
Conclusion This study shows that the use of kinesio taping has no significant effect on the improvement of delayed muscle soreness caused by standing vertical jump.
