Abstract:
Objective To observe the therapeutic effect of kinesio taping on knee pain caused by military training.
Methods A total of 40 male soldiers with knee pain after military training were randomly divided into kinesio taping group (n=20) and routine treatment group (n=20).Both groups received routine physical therapy. The kinesio taping group also received kinesio taping. The pain (VAS) and function (Lysholm) of knee were observed before and at 2 and 4 weeks after initiation of treatment.
Results The VAS score of the routine treatment group decreased significantly over time, from 5.35±0.99 to 4.16±1.46 at 2 weeks, and 1.70±1.03 at 4 weeks (
P<0.05),while it decreased from 5.74±1.15 to 2.45±1.09 at 2 weeks and 1.90±0.95 at 4 weeks in the kinesio taping group with significant difference (
P<0.05).At 2 weeks, the vas score of the kinesio taping group was significantly lower than that of the routine treatment group (
P<0.05),bu there was no significant difference between the two groups at 4 weeks after treatment (
P>0.05).Lysholm score of the kinesio taping group increased significantly from 69.99±9.43 to 80.81±9.60 at 2 weeks, and to 90.36±7.83 at 4 weeks (
P<0.05);In the routine treatment group,it increased from 76.81±6.95 to 89.42±7.62 at 4 weeks,with statistically significant difference (
P<0.05).No significant difference was found in Lysholm score between the two groups at each timepoint.
Conclusion Kinesio taping can be used to treat knee joint injury related to military training, which can alleviate pain, improve function, and has better treatment effect.
