Abstract:
Objective To observe the effect of medium chain triglycerides(MCT) on β3 adrenergic receptors(β3AR) in brown adipose tissue(BAT) of mice with obesity induced by high fat diet.
Methods An obesity model of male C57BL/6J mice was induced by feeding high fat diet.Thirty obese mice were randomly divided into MCT group and long chain triglyceride(LCT) group(15 in each group) and fed with MCT and LCT,respectively, for 12 weeks.Body weight, body fat, blood lipid, brown fat mass,andβ3AR mRNA expression in BAT were observed before and after experiment.
Results At the end of study, the body weight, body fat mass, serum levels of TG,TC,LDL-C were significantly lower while those of HDL-C and HDL-C/LDL-C were significantly higher in MCT group than in LCT group(P<0.05).The expression levels of cAMP,PKA,HSL,brown body fat mass, and β3AR mRNA were significantly higher in MCT group than in LCT group(P<0.05).
Conclusion MCT can promote the proliferation of BAT and up-regulate the β3AR mRNA expression.
