Abstract:
Objective To evaluate the clinical application of human albumin in patients admitted to our hospital.
Methods Parameters of 8 243 patients who used human albumin in different departments of our hospital from February 2010 to February 2011 were analyzed, including the age, gender, disease, dosage of albumin used, and concentration of albumin before treatment.
Results The dosage of albumin used in patients at the age of 50-79 years was the greatest. The number of patients was greater in departments of surgery(especially in department of hepatobiliary surgery) than in those of internal medicine, accounting for 20.08% of the 8 243 patients, followed by department of orthopedics(11.38%),department of cardiovascular surgery(8.80%),and department of general surgery(7.5%).Human albumin was mainly used in post-operative cancer patients at the dose of 10-20g,accounting for 42.14% of the total cancer patients.
Conclusion The use of human albumin in our hospital is rational, but abuse still exists.Human albumin should be used strictly according to its indications and the rational drug use principles.
