Abstract:
Objective To study the significance of platelet parameters in diagnosis and treatment of pulmonary tuberculosis.
Methods Platelet parameters, including platelet distribution width(PDW),mean platelet volume(MPV) and plateletcrit(PCT) were detected in 104 pulmonary tuberculosis patients(without pulmonary infection in 49 patients, with pulmonary infection in 55 patients) and 50 healthy controls before and after treatment.
Results The PLT,MPV and PCT were 237.25(99-579)109/L,9.63(6.14-12.80)fL and 0.229(0.094-0.590)% respectively in patients with no pulmonary infection,270.64(106-525)109/L,10.02(6.40-13.20)fL and 0.272(0.119-0.540)% respectively in those with pulmonary infection, and 197.39(101-326)109/L,8.22(5.89-11.20)fL and 0.160(0.059-0.360)% respectively in healthy controls(P<0.05).The PLT and PCT were significantly higher in patients with pulmonary infection than in those without pulmonary infection(P<0.05).No significant difference was found in PDW between patients with or without pulmonary infection and healthy controls. The PLT,MPV and PCT were significantly decreased after treatment.
Conclusion PLT,MPV and PCT in pulmonary tuberculosis patients can be used as the reference parameters for the therapeutic effect on pulmonary tuberculosis.
