Abstract:
Objective To report 5 cases of primary cardiac angiosarcoma and study its diagnosis and treatment.
Methods Of the 5 patients with primary cardiac angiosarcoma confirmed by pathology from April 2004 to April 2011 in our hospital,4 underwent surgery and 2 had a thorough resection of the tumor.
Results The patients were followed up for 3-12 months after operation.Of the 5 patients,3 did not receive any further treatment and died 3-12 months after operation,1 died 9 months after surgery due to recurrence of the tumor after 2 courses of chemotherapy,1 underwent operation less than 3 months ago.No long-term survival case was reported.
Conclusion Primary cardiac angiosarcoma is rare with a poor prognosis and no effective treatment modality is available for it at present.
