Methods Among the 1 209 persons who underwent physical and health examination in our hospital in May-August 2010,34 who were diagnosed as gout served as a gout group,63 with asymptomatic hyperuricemia served as a hyperuricemia group, and 118 with normal uric acid served as a control group.Effect of diet, drinking and obesity on gout was studied.
Results The intake of vegetables, dairy and alcohol, and the waistline were significantly different among the 3 groups(P<0.05).The alcohol intake and waistline were significantly different between the gout and hyperuricemia groups(P<0.05).Logistic regression analysis showed that the OR was 0.090 for waistline and 0.646 for alcohol intake(P<0.05).
Conclusion Central obesity and alcohol intake are the risk factors for gout in patients with asymptomatic hyperuricemia.
