Abstract:
Objective To study the prediction value of age for multiple organ dysfunction syndrome(MODS) induced by acute myocardial infarction(AMI) in old patients with hypertension.
Methods Clinical data about 2 966 patients with hypertension at the age of over 60 years(mean 76.52±6.13 years) admitted to our hospital from January 1993 to December 2008 were retrospectively analyzed.The morbidity of MODS induced by AMI accompanying hypertension in old patients at different ages and different boundary ages were investigated.Spearman rank correlation was used to analyze the correlation between ages and incidence of MODS induced by AMI in old patients with hypertension.Pearson χ
2 test was used to analyze the difference in morbidity of MODS induced by AMI in old patients with hypertension between above and below boundary ages.Scheffe χ
2 test was used to compare the difference in morbidity of MODS between every two boundary ages.
Results Age was positively correlated with the morbidity of MODS induced by AMI in old patients with hypertension(Spearman rank correlation coefficient=0.341,P<0.001).The morbidity of MODS induced by AMI in old patients with hypertension increased with increasing age.The morbidity of MODS induced by AMI was significantly different in old patients with hypertension between above and below 75 years or older(P<0.05).
Conclusion The distinctly boundary age for the incidence of MODS induced by AMI in old patients with hypertension is 75.Age is valuable for early prediction of MODS induced by AMI in old patients with hypertension.
