Abstract:
Objective To study the serum leptin level in patients with coronary heart disease (CHD) and its relation with CHD.
Methods Serum samples were collected from 300 CHD patients and 30 normal controls. Serum leptin and C-reactive protein (CRP) levels and 20 biochemical markers of different organs and their metabolic function were detected.
Results The serum leptin and CRP levels were significantly higher in CHD patients than in normal controls, and the metabolic functions had certain significant changes in CHD patients compared with normal controls, suggesting that leptin is related with some of the biochemical markers of metabolic function.
Conclusion leptin and CRP have a strong response during the course of CHD. Leptin is related with the biochemical markers of CHD patients and may promote the occurrence and development of CHD.
