Abstract:
This paper reports the use of Dextran Sulfate(DS) as a mobilizer of hematopoietic stem cells in the peripheral blood in three acute leukemia patients, in total dosages of 2070mg, and 1950mg and 1020mg respectively. One and half hours after infusion, karyocytes were collected and varying amounts, such as 20.41×10
9, 25.58×10
9 and 24.058×10
9, were used for autologous transplantation in patients with success. After infusion, the number of separations reduce from 9 to 1—2 times, the number of separations being reduced 6 folds. The parameters KPTT, TT and PT etc of the blood coagulation system returned to the pre-infusion levels in 24 hours, and hepatic and renal function etc did not show evident change. Therefore, DS appears to be a safe and effective mobilizer for the mobilization of hematopietic stem cells in peripheral blood.
