Abstract:
56 cases of malignant trophoblastic tumors(invasive mole in 32 and choriocarcinoma in 24) were treated in our hospital from Jul.1962 to Dec.1984 with chemotherapy in chief, and with surgery and radiotherapy as adjucts.47 cases(83.93%)have followed up for 1—21 years, revealing a mortality rate of 12.5% in 3 cases of choriocarcinoma and 3.12% in invasive moles. The remaining patients are living and well.Among 21 young patients who kept their ovares for fertility,9 patients have delivered uneventfully and the children are in good health, the oldest being a 14-year old boy.The results of our study are similar to those reported. In the paper, the problems concerning factors influencing the prognosis, such as chemotherapy in combination with surgical treatment, the prevention of malignant change of hydatidiform moles, the managment of the side effects of chemotherapy, and the preservation of reproductive function were briefly discussed.
